FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017™ left economic revenue of over $14.7 billions of pesos for the country.

  • Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid, Grupo CIE’s Executive Director and CEO, Alejandro Soberon and Mexico Government Spokesman Eduardo Sanchez Hernandez revealed results of FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017™ economic revenue, mass media impact and its worldwide exposition.

After a successful and historic FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO™ 2017 edition, last Thursday at the official residence in Los Pinos, Secretary of Tourism – Enrique de la Madrid –, Grupo CIE’s Executive Director and CEO– Alejandro Soberon – and Mexico’s Government Spokesman – Eduardo Sanchez Hernandez – revealed economic and media impact of race carried out last October.

Obtained data are the result of an analysis conducted by international enterprises AECOM AND FORMULA MONEY hired by CIE, FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO™ promoter company, to determine impact and benefits brought by this event to the country.

Research findings can be summed as follows:

· With a total of 337,043 spectators, spectators, the Gran Premio de Mexico in 2017 remained as one of the races with the greatest attendance of the championship.

· The race held in our country was broadcasted in 200 countries throughout 110 TV broadcasters and received 2,400 hours of world-wide coverage.

· It was published 23,953 press releases about FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2017™ during the week of the event, reaching over 38 billion of impacts around the world,

· Mexico as a brand was exhibited on the track, turning into the top of mind brand with the greatest appearance in television during the whole championship which represented a total of $1,391 million of pesos in mass media exposition

In social networks, over 13,000 million of imprints around the world. In addition it was measured around 910,000 impressions on the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2017™. There is also a register of 306 tweets per minute and the hash tag #MexicoGP was trending topic for over 12 hours.

· FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017™ contributed to country economy with $8,400 million of pesos which added to the $6,380 million of pesos, from mass media exposition, results in a total of $14,780 million of pesos.

· In addition, in 2017 around 8,700 jobs were created in the zone derived by the event, which generated profits of over $1,700 million of pesos.

Thereon, the Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, pointed that “FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO™ was without a doubt, in 2017, an outstanding factor for the great development of tourism in our country, which is the third net income generator for Mexico”

Alejandro Soberon stated “FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017™ was very special thanks to its historical achievements and for having showed a Mexico united on its feet, able to organize events of such high world-wide level despite having faced complicated situations”, referring to last September earthquakes.

The CEO finished “With these positive results, we keep up our goal of promoting our country and showing the unique F1®ESTA experienced in Mexico thanks to our people and our culture”.
