As the British dramatist, George Bernard Shaw, once wrote “There is no sincerer love than the love of food”. And that couldn’t be more certain than in our country, world-known famous thanks to its gastronomy, whose food has been recognized as Immaterial Heritage by UNESCO. For another year, restaurants in Mexico City together with FORMULA 1® GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017 are gathered for El Sabor de la Formula 1 second edition, to celebrate two of the greatest passions which Mexicans find so exciting. Once again the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017TM will leave the track with this initiative that will take place from October 16 to October 29, in which the most outstanding chefs and restaurants from the country will reinterpret the passion for this sport’s speed through special dishes. “In 2016, El Sabor de la Formula 1® helped us lead racing beyond Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez and attracting new audiences which are not necessarily related to our event. Besides it was exciting to watch many of the best restaurants participating in the number 1 sport event in town”, said Federico González Compeán, Executive Director of FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICOTM. “One of our goals with this initiative is sharing the unique energy of our race and keep on honoring Mexico thanks to the food- which is something that identifies Mexico as a unique and special country”, he stated. As in case of the first edition, in 2017 gastronomic offer is comprised by a wide variety which included all types of food and dishes, from meat cuts and seafood, to Mexican, French and Asian restaurants. Alejandro Garza, Executive Director of Sabor es Polanco – the most relevant gourmet festival in the capital and the main partner of the initiative –, emphasized “Given the positive response from chefs and restaurants owners during the first year, we carry out a second edition with a bigger participation, so we are really excited to lead this top category fans beyond the tracks in order to try many and very delicious menus”. As an evidence of the gastronomy variety in our country, over 100 restaurants – located at the most emblematic neighborhoods in the city- joined the project. All menus designed by the restaurants, as well as their location, can be found at the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017TM official website– www.mexicogp.mx/elsaborf1 – and Sabor es Polanco –www.saborespolanco.mx. Furthermore, in order to create a bigger interaction between restaurants and guests, a dynamic would be held on social media from October 16 to 22 when people will be invited to visit participating restaurants, photographing dishes and uploading them to their Instagram or Twitter accounts using the hashtag#ElSaborF1, or the restaurant’s hashtag (Check annex for details). Afterwards, from October 23 to October 26, participating pictures would be published on the website www.mexicogp.mx/elsaborf1 where the public shall vote for their favorite picture. The author of the most voted picture will win a double pass for the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017TM, as well as double ticket to enjoy Sir Paul McCartney’s concert to take place on October 28 at the Estadio Azteca. The fortunate winner will get the best weekend of the year in the capital of entertainment *.
