Force India has revealed the VJM08 car at a launch event at Sounmaya Museum in Mexico City. With a striking new colour scheme the team hopes to challenge for podiums with regularity in 2015. The car was officially unveiled by Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg at an event in Mexico City at the same time the team released official pictures of the car. The new colour scheme is predominantly silver and black, with shades of orange, which is the second year Force India has chosen a dark livery. Of note was the VJM08's wider nose, a contrast to the images of the Williams FW28, released earlier on Wednesday. The new car will not debut until the second winter test, with Force India set to run its 2014 car at the Jerez test which begins on February 1. The VJM08 will also feature other more subtle changes, including modified sculpting of the sidepods and new cooling intakes. Underneath the bodywork, meanwhile, there will be a completely new rear suspension layout with a new hydro-mechanical system replacing the original torsion springs. Team boss Vijay Mallya said he hopes the VJM08 can build on the success of 2014 and help Force India fight with the teams at the front of the grid this season and confirmed the team has moved to a new wind tunnel in Germany. "The 2015 car is a refinement of what we learned in 2014," said Mallya. "Another major step forward is the technology change, in that we are now using a 60% wind tunnel in Cologne, Germany which is a far bigger step than we have ever taken before. Traditionally we have been in Brackley where we used to develop our car with a 50% model and an outdated wind tunnel. "With this new and important tool available to use we hope the 2015 challenger will really prove its worth in competing with the big boys of F1 when we start the European season. We are lucky to have two exceptional drivers who will hopefully steer the Sahara Force India challenger to the front of the grid, and hopefully a few podiums during the current year."
