The party is supposed to begin very soon, but it is worth to remember that everything comes to an end.
The speed party in Mexico had already received the starting signal with a race that has become immortal: “Panamericana” first edition. A long full speed test that started in the river Bravo and finished in the river Suchiate, that could be toured from South to North, splitting the country’s spine in two.
Those have been considered legendary times, the cornerstone of Mexican Audience.
During promotion of the American automobile industry and the country’s touristic charm, a healthy taste and interest for cars emerged with a considerable speed. The inaugural test received the starting signal on May 5th, 1950 in Ciudad Juarez and finished on May 10th in Tuxtla Gutierrez. During the celebration of “The battle of Puebla” and mother’s day one of the biggest Mexican celebrations, that would only be superseded by Father Miguel Hidalgo’s rebellion. The brutal excitement began with a party mood that continues nowadays.
The “Pana” is still alive and for its fourth edition –in 1953– a catastrophe takes place, the Italian driver, Felice Bonetto, gets killed on a Lancia. There were great cars brands and world known drivers registered: Umberto Maglioli and Piero Taruffi among others. The people and their sharp sizzle move along through a short and decisive epigram which is its leitmotive to enforce the fervor for the greatest on the wheel: “Por Taruffi, Bonetto se dio en toda la Maglioli”. And it passed from mouth to mouth all over Mexico, with the topic of interlinear races.
And of course the fervor for the F1esta had been detoned, with a dead driver and the chunga, the jokes and our pass of one life to another, to a maybe better stage, the famous skulls and the sugar skulls that make a funny time of all funereal situations.
Mexico is an irrevocable party, is why this one must go on. y por ello es que ésta debe de proseguir. On a daily basis and during the extraordinary days, it is better to grab all fullness in life, moment by moment, because you don’t know what will happen next. It is so simple to understand it, we just need to stick to Jose Alfredo’s preaching, “life it’s not worthy”. So nothing as healthy as living fully and long life to those heroes that gave us our homeland …
Standing or seated, in motion or still, anyhow: time goes away and instants go fast. We shall not let them go as scarecrows.
We must now prove that country claim: and now on one of the most Mexican days of the year, it is the right time to get your tickets for the most delicious F1esta.
We need to run into each other at the most famous F1esta of the speed: from October 28, until life comes to an end.
You can not miss!
