As part of the regular inspections conducted by the FIA (International Automobile Federation) at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, this week, Formula 1 ® Race Director, visited the place.

The also safety delegate of the serial, said with five months away from the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX MEXICO 2015® celebration, that the works made on the track are just in time with the necessary specifications for the return of the maximum category of the motorsports to our country after 23 years of absence. “I have toured the track, seen the progress and check all the areas where the safety barriers are going to be installed.” Charlie Whiting, Formula 1® Race Director stated.

Mexico has hosted 16 Grand Prixes during two different seasons, from 1962 to 1970 and from 1986 to 1992, being the British Nigel Mansell the last man getting on the podium in our country, together with the Italian Ricardo Patresse and the German Michael Schumacher, who was getting his first podium then.

For the return of Formula 1® to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, adjustments have been made on its legendary layout, keeping his DNA, complying with the new safety regulations required by the FIA.

Formula 1® Race Director could also witnessed tests that have been made on the new “pianos” or “sinks” placement, which will be installed in over 3 kilometers of the layout, as well as drainage installation.

Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE), as Formula 1® promoter in Mexico, requested the German Company Tilke, responsible of redesigning the track, to keep the circuit’s essence complying with safety regulations and reconfiguring the layout for a better and bigger show for the attendants.

The Hermanos Rodríguez Circuit will have 17 curves, 10 right and 7 left, and one of the longest straights of the serial with 1,302 meters, where a top speed of 328 kms/hr. can be reached. In addition, a small straight was created around the curve 6, known as “Recorte Rebaque”, in the stadium zone, as well as the “s” zone’s smoothing.

Another change that will increase viewer’s excitement was the creation of an “s” inside the Foro Sol, allowing cars to stay a longer time in that part of the circuit. “Foro Sol will be one of the most stunning zones for the drives, since a few Racing tracks have areas so close to the audience”, said the German, Nico Hülkenberg last January during his visit to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez together with his team mate Sergio “Checo” Pérez, from Sahara Force India team.
