¿Disadvantage for McLaren - Honda?

19 February 2015  12:41 AM

This year the team doesn’t have an engine type-approved as they did in 2014, they will have to evaluate its performance on the go, fixing the mistakes and improving the motor.

Matt Morris technical director of the team, comments that the engine will be more developed for the tests at Barcelona. It is said that the engine shows more power and performance, working with Honda to achieve the perfect balance. It will be really interesting to see the technical work of the team.

Let’s talk more about this race car.

The McLaren – Honda, was designed by Tim Goss and Peter Prodromou. It will be driven by Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.

  • Honda Motor 1.6 turbo.
  • Carbon Fiber Chassis MPA-30.
  • Double wishbone suspension with carbon fiber pushrod.

The car nose is at a lower level caused by a fall on the front axle, it looks more original than others.

It has an engine recovery system KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).

Kinetic Energy Recovery System, ¿what does kinetic energy stand for? It is energy originated by an object movement. The KERS system allows to reduce the car speed and the kinetic energy is then transformed in electric energy, which is stored to be used later.

The KERS system was created by Honda. As for the gearbox of McLaren, it has 8 speeds beside the reverse.

Like all the teams, the McLaren-Honda is betting on the podium, hoping that Fernando Alonso becomes world champion again.

It is said that Honda is only 20 CV less (engine power) than Mercedes Benz.

We need to be aware, changes at the F1 are constant and the statistics can take an unexpected twist. As required by the F1, everyone must be the best of the world, to earn the right and the privilege to compete for the Grand Prix.

Let your heart vibrate at the motor speed.
