Vettel knows comeback.

13 October 2017  04:56 PM

It seems that Lewis Hamilton’s 59- point advantage over Sebastian Vettel in the fight for victory was out of reach, but if there’s a driver who knows how to come back, it is definitely the German driver from Ferrari. Hamilton, Mercedes’ British driver, prevailed during his most recent race in Japan, getting his fourth victory for the last five dates of the season; and with only 100 points to be divided for the rest of the campaign, he’s got broad possibilities to win his fourth World Crown. On the other hand, his biggest contender on the fight for the scepter, Vettel, executed his second drop-out of the year at Suzuka’s circuit, witnessing how the British man enlarged the distance between them in the battle for the World Championship. However, the German became the world monarch, coming from behind two times, during seasons 2010 and 2012, when he was part of Red Bull team. Seven years ago, Hamilton was with McLaren; Ferrari had the Spanish man, Fernando Alonso and as for Mark Webber, Vettel’s teammate in Red Bull, was focusing his whole attention in the fight for the title by then, meanwhile Sebastian was in fourth place with 163 points and five more races to go with 24 units away from his teammate. Vettel won in Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi, surpassing Alonso with four points to reach his first World Championship. In 2012, after the European season and seven remaining tests, Vettel was in third position, right after the Finish, Kimi Räikkonen, from Lotus and Alonso from Ferrari. The German got four victories (Singapore, Japan, Korea and India) he was third in Abu Dhabi and second in United States, closing with a sixth place in Brazil to defeat Alonso for three points. Hamilton is calling the shots now and ever since he took the general leadership in Italy keeping an almost perfect pace with four consecutive podiums. Even for the 32-year British man, Formula 1 United States Grand Prix comes with his first chance of crowning himself in advance, and in order to get it he needs to add 16 points over the German. Should he fail in Austin, Hamilton will get a second chance at Formula 1 Gran Premio de México, on October 29, at Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez, stage where he prevailed during season 2016. Hamilton’s teammate in Mercedes, the Finish, Valtteri Bottas, is the third driver with mathematical possibilities for the title, but he is 72 points away from the British man. Although it seems impossible, Sebastian Vettel would try to extend World Championship definition until the final date, on Yas Marina’s layout in Abu Dhabi, on November 26, hoping to repeat his 2010 and 2012 feats, when numbers hardness made him out of the competition for the World Crown during both seasons.
