· The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez received 337,043 fans and the Hashtag #MéxicoGP was a Trending Topic for 9 hours, with over 300 tweets about the race, every minute.
Ten days after FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017 was held, the Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid, and Alejandro Soberon, President and Executive Chief of Grupo CIE, presented the preliminary results regarding with the recent visit of Motor Racing Top Category to our country.
“After the past earthquakes and their consequences in our country, this year’s race got a special meaning”, said Alejandro Soberon. “It is an honor to announce, that thanks to the race held in our country, Mexico surprised the world again, not only for having organized such a top class event, but also by proving that Mexican people’s unity and solidarity are the main engine to put the country back on its feet little by little, only less than two months away from the latest earthquakes.”, he stated.
For since its first edition, the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO endorsed once again its compromise of taking the reflector of this sport and bring its Mexican culture and traditions, to the entire world, only this time it was also proved that Mexico is still standing despite difficulties.
Every year, FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO organizers are working hand in hand with the international companies Formula Money and AECOM to detail the impact of such event in the country. However, Soberon offered some information about the race:
· Last October 27, 28 and 29, 337,043 National and International fans were received – at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
· It contributed to Mexico’s global positioning with 13,363 million of comments on Twitter – around 2 billion more than in 2016.
· In addition, on this same social network, 306 tweets in connection with the race were generated per minute, and the official hashtag #MexicoGP was trending topic for 9 hours.
· Meanwhile, after the different tributes conducted honoring the mortal victims and daminified because of the earthquakes, the hashtag #FuerzaMéxico was trending topic for 5 hours during that weekend.
During the press conference the international support for Mexico between the Formula 1® community was made clear, highlighting that if FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO can make a difference from the other venues of the championship, it is definitely thanks to its audience.
As a result of it, during the race weekend, CIE- organizer of the race in Mexico, announced a donation in kind together with the global F1® family: 600 temporary classrooms for the States of Chiapas and Oaxaca (300 for each State) which will allow that 9,000 Mexican children continue with their education after having been affected by the earthquakes.
The session ended with a global gratitude to all of them which from the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez or from home, joined to the energy of the event and helped again to bring Mexico to the world and at the same time bringing world to Mexico. Besides, they were all invited to enjoy next year, of a new edition of the Mexican Grand Prix.
