• Racing fans are invited to wear a green shirt at the México GP on Sunday, 7 November to show their pride of being part of the world’s best F1 fandom. 

The 2021 FORMULA 1 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX Presented by Heineken invites everyone who will attend the race on 7 November to wear a green shirt and show the world that Mexico has the best fans.

The movement called “la Banda Verde” (the “green gang”) seeks to bring together racing fans at the event so they all feel part of the same team, and to show the world the great passion we feel in Mexico for Formula 1 and our unconditional support for our driver, Sergio Pérez.

“Being Mexican means more than just having been born in this country. It symbolizes an attitude of not giving up under any circumstance and smiling at life. Green is also present in much of our creativity, cuisine, and traditions. That is why we encourage the fans to join us on Sunday 7 November in this token of affection for Mexico, to show that we are back after being absent from Formula 1 in 2020,” said Federico González, Director of the

In addition to wearing green, we encourage fans to bring typically Mexican items, such as wrestling masks, flags, and sarapes, provided they are allowed in accordance with the permitted items list.

As a symbol to represent the best fans in the world, we are also presenting a new mascot named “Pepeño” (José Jalapeño), a jalapeño pepper who is not only passionate about racing but is also an example of what it means to be a good fan and a proud Mexican. Pepeño will represent the identity of thousands of people who were crucial to get the F1ESTA recognized as the Best Event for five consecutive years. 

Pepeño is a fan who respects health and safety rules, is courteous to all drivers, helps keep the venue clean, opposes violence, passionately enjoys the México GP, and is Checo Pérez’s number one fan. 

We have also created a Facebook fan portal, where “the Green Banda” will be able to post comments, share experiences, photos, and arrange rendezvous points when attending the México GP, which will take place 5-7 November at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
